Tournament Rules
The following are the rules for tournaments that are run by Michigan Cornhole unless otherwise stated.
Rules
We will follow the rules of the ACA and any additional rules below.
-
The team/person who goes first in a new match is determined by a coin toss.
-
You must be 18 years of age or older.
-
Partners shall stand at opposite boxes on the same side facing each other so there is no advantage given to one team. Singles will chose one side and and stay on that side at both ends.
-
Each team shall have 4 bags of one color.
-
All 8 bags will begin at one end.
-
One of the partners on the team who has honors shall begin by throwing a bag at the opposite box.
-
A player may throw from anywhere within the pitching area behind the foot foul line.
-
Game continues by alternating throws between the two opponents until all 8 bags have been thrown ending the round.
-
If a bag hits the ground then bounces up onto the board, that bag shall be taken off the playing surface.
-
The next round starts when the other player on the team, which has honors, throws their first bag.
-
The game continues until one team/person reaches 21 or more points.
-
Cancellation scoring will be used.
-
The Cornhole match can never end in the middle of an inning. Thus, if a team that pitches first reaches or exceeds 21 points, the game can not end until the other side is allowed to pitch all of their corn bags and the inning is completed.
